Shipments done by Travellers

The HU Shipping Database!

From THIS page, you can find details of shipments ALREADY MADE by travellers, both air and sea, so you can plan your own shipment.

For each shipment, the details include Shipping Date, Cost, Shipper Contact details and a Description of the experience, often including very detailed and extremely useful information about the requirements for crating or the paperwork involved at the destination location.

If you are aware of any more up-to-date information, or you know of any shipping details for locations which aren't listed below:

Please let us know here for minor details, or
Submit information on a shipment YOU HAVE ALREADY MADE here.

Thanks to all who have contributed this information, keep it coming!

NOTE: This is not our normal view, but Google's API has somehow broken the view with a map and everything nicely laid out. We will fix it as soon as possible, but it's a very big job for us. Any Google API experts feel free to contact us! For now this will have to do, sorry.

Usage: Enter one or more of the fields, as you wish. Blank field means "all". Be sure to use correct country names, e.g. "United Kingdom" not UK or England. Unfortunately "united states" (united states of america doesn't work) gets United Kingdom as well, just work down to the bottom or last page. Not case-sensitive. Results sorted by newest first.

Shipment: From Seoul to Vancouver - September, 2019

Aero int'l / via Air Canada
Wendy Choi
wendy@aerointl.kr

Price is for one bike, Versys X 300, approx 250 kilos with luggage.

We contacted Wendy with a flying date, and she then gave us the direction of the packing factory, that also takes care of the dangerous good paperwork.

All went well, just a little hicup when the customs wanted to open the crates to be sure it was our bikes inside !! So we sent pictures of the packing process (we were happy that we took so many) and pictures of the vin numbers. It went through no issue, but it can happen. So better plan a day after for flying yourself, just in case.

The final price is known when the crated bike is weighed, so it's hard to know in advance how much you're going to pay.

All went smoothly. A little bit of waiting in Vancouver Air Canada Cargo area, the time they take off the bikes from the plane, and the time they did custom check. So again, maybe sending the bike one day ahead is probably a good idea.

The price paid at destination may vary regarding how long you want to spend in the country. We paid 100$ for guarantee fee, and 100$ for 15days insurance. I guess it may vary if you stay longer of if you have a bigger bike.

Tallink Silja Line

Use code 95845 in the discount/coupon window to ship a bike for free. (Works ONLY on tallinksilja.de, not on other country websites, but valid for all Tallink Silja routes.)

Use the "Special cabin places" dropdown to buy a single berth in a shared cabin, much cheaper than buying a full cabin.

If you are getting on or off at Mariehamn, you can buy a berth in a shared cabin and have very good chances of being alone in the cabin - they will not put you in a cabin with people going all the way to Tallinn/Stockholm, since you will have to get up in the middle of the night.

If you are going to Mariehamn with a vehicle, you will need to be at the port of departure 1,5 hours before sailing, as you have to get on the boat before other vehicles.

Duration of the shipment were 39 days from Vladivostok to Vancouver harbour. It took 13 days to have the Soil inspektion done and to get the bike handed over. At the end we had to pay twice as much to the agent in Vancouver as been told bevor.

Agent in Vancouver was:

Gabryelle van der Molen (gabryelle (a) astrainternational.com)
Fernando Guimaraes (logistics (a) astrainternational.com)
Astra International Moving & Shipping Inc.
1490 Derwent Way, Delta, BC, V3M 6H9, Canada

The service was professionel with excellent communication. Only the high cost at the end was a surprise. But to be honest, I believe this wasn´t in the gents hand.
