Arrow Seeking Travel Insurance Which also Covers Riding Bike Over 125ccs

Hi guys,

I'm a UK citizen / UK passport holder and I'm trying to find travel insurance which covers riding rented bikes over 125cc.

I'm off to the Philippines for 6 months and I'm having difficulty finding travel insurance which also covers riding bikes outside of the EU.

One insurance broker (Carole Nash) would cover me for only for a 5 months trip, another broker (Staysure) will only cover for riding bikes under 125cc.

Any UK people who can suggest brokers / insurance companies to contact?

I know I can get basic local third party motor insurance in the Philippines, however I after travel / medical insurance, should the worst happen.....

Many thanks.

Try these guys. Don't know how good they are but they seem quite flexible with who they will cover.

Generally travel/medical insurance for motorbikes over 125cc is only available if the bike is your only form of transport, it belongs to you, and you've ridden it from your home country.

Not saying it's impossible to find, but that's their starting point. Too many kids on holiday renting a big bike for fun and coming a cropper.

Have a look at Puffin, underwritten by AXA: https://www.puffininsurance.com
The fly in the ointment is cover for the longest period away is 45 days under their Platinum Cover.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
