Exclamation Which travel insurance for my bike in Morocco ?

Hi,
in a few days I'll be leaving for Morocco, but yesterday I discovered that my regular travel insurance does insure me, but not my motorcycle! So if my bike gets broken it can't be repaired or towed away or sent back to Belgium. I called Allianz, VAB and Touring but they only do this for the "geographical Europe" as they call it.
Any advice on which insurance company to contact would be greatly appreciated !
Paul

Buy it on arrival, most do it that way as it's simple and cheap enough for a short trip.

You're confusing motorbike insurance which you can buy on arrival and motorbike breakdown and recovery insurance which you can't.

I don't know where you can buy breakdown insurance, never had it on numerous trips to Morocco, but I believe ADAC or the Dutch equivalent covers Morocco, at least for cars.

Just in time, we found the Golden Travel Insurance (by Mapfre). 2 euro per person per day and 2 euro per motorcycle per day. And indeed, I'm talking about the motorcycle breakdown and recovery insurance.

Hello Tim, since UK based Bennetts won't provide me with a green card, do I understand that I will get it upon purchasing insurance on entry?

Afaik, a green card was an extension of your domestic insurance to use abroad, but as you've found, very few UK insurers issue them any more for Morocco. while we're in the EU, our UK insurance gives basic cover there.

What you buy at Moroccan ports is short-term Moroccan motor insurance for foreigners: 'assurance frontiers'.

It's about 95 euros for 4 weeks, bike or car - more for motorhomes.
They do 10 days too, iirc, but it's proportionally more.

More on Moroccan immigration and documents

Pay in dirhams - about 950.
Picture above is Tan Med port.

Get used to using cash in Morocco.

Hey - anyone. RECENTLY ridden to Morocco via Tangier? LIKE SINCE COVID? We are taking 2 Canadian-registered motos their in April. Can I really purchase the necessary insurance easily upon arrival and at reasonable cost? Everything I see here and elsewhere is stale-dated - lots of stuff has changed everywhere since the COVID. Thanx!!

Which Tanger? Tanger Med or Tanger Ville?

Hmmmm ... Much to learn. There is a ferry from Tarifa, Spain. On my Michelin map I see Port Tanger Med (quite small) and Tangier proper - which I take to be Tangier Ville. Anyway, the later / larger is where the ferry lands, so that one.

Tanger Med is a pretty big main port, and preferred by most people as being straight forward and out onto the Motorway for onward travel.

Previous insurance advice is still valid, theres been a few euros price increase but that's it
