Kyrgyzstan to Nepal OR KKH August/Sept 2015

Hello all,

I'm travelling from London to Sydney this summer, and am planning to be in India for September. I'm riding solo on a XT660Z Tenere, for what it's worth.

Is anyone travelling that way in those timeframes and interested in forming a group? If so shout.

I'm fairly flexible on timings, though I have a preference for crossing the last week of August - first week of September.

Thanks

Ed

Fri August 28th

Hi Ed,
Thanks for posting.
Ed and I are already in touch so I post this for the benefit of any others:

I plan to cross from Kyrgyzstan into China Friday August 28th to exit 20 days later into Nepal and onward to New Delhi.

Open invite for others to join for China section to share costs of necessary guide and permits. I'm delivering a Hilux so can carry small amount of baggage / spares for others.

Negotiating with travel firms (Navo) at present and hope to confirm arrangements in the next 10 days. I have been quoted CNY 23,000 and hopefully a lot less.

kind regards

Fergal John.

please note:
* Nepalese border is currently closed. Hopefully it will be re-open shortly.
** Accommodation and meals not included in above quote. I've been told that CNY300 / 350 daily would cover.

Hi to all,

We are Polish couple on 2 motorbikes BMW f650gs, we would like to drive from Kyrgyzstan across China to Nepal. We are flexible but last week of August and first week of September suits us best to entry China. We been sending a lots of quotes to Chinese travel agency's and Navo tour seems to be one of the best. Reason to that is that every vehicle driving into China must pay caution, this caution is quite expensive for one of our motorbike 3000usd, this caution Chinese customs pays back after living China( but with weeks delay). Navo-tours pays 2700usd in name of client, so we need to pay just 300usd. I don't know if others agency's are doing that. Its also smart to have a car in a group so "guide" can travel in. Otherwise guide must have a car and that is extra 200usd/day. Prices we have got from Navo-tours are: l For a group with 5 vehicles, the price is 17,500 CNY for each vehicle + 2 persons, l For a group with 4 vehicles, the price is 19,400 CNY for each vehicle + 2 persons. I dont know is that prices with or without car in the group. I gonna ask about that today. And than last importat thing is that it takes minimum 2,5 months for Chines agency's to fix documents and permits so we need to be quick now. My private email kontor@presis-as.no

I have found what prises includes:

l All the paperwork and permits needed( National ones, provincial ones, customs ones, etc.);

l Entry and exit procedure fee at customs;

l Cost for vehicle (temporary license, number plate, insurance);

l Cost for driver (temporary driving license, insurance);

l Fluent English-speaking tour guide for the whole tour;

l Guide‘s transportation, accommodation and meal both for preparation time and your traveling time;

l NAVO’s service charge;

l Vehicle/motorcycle deposit at customs at Kashgar.

Perhaps we can get better price if we have car in group?
