Crikey, all sounds utterly wonderful

Wish I was going.
Wish I had a working bike
Wish I had some working cash (I assume Monopoly money won't be accepted?)
Wish I had a working brain so I could present something and get in that way

Wish I could be there, but if I can't then I
Wish you all the best!

Rough! Really sorry you can't make it this year. If things change and you can make it, it'd be great to see you! In the mean time, thanks for the best wishes!!!

Needless to say I've not yet done it - I'm sure it would be easy having repeated it a few times!
I've just been having a conversation with Grant about what he's going to be doing, and your query.

He's going to be concentrating on the tips and techniques for changing tyres themselves. Grant's not going to be using a bike to remove the wheel from as part of the session, as all bikes are so different.

However, he's hoping for there to be time to have a discussion re the specifics of removing wheels. So, bring your questions, and if you are reading this and have knowledge, please bring your tips for this discussion.

For those of you who didn't make it to the HUBB UK last year, here's a shot of the Author's and Film maker's marquee in the courtyard. The courtyard is surrounded by the red brick farm buildings, and is home to the outside sitting area for the bar, the area for the supported charity - this year its ShelterBox - and the HU Store for T-shirts and DVDs etc.

Last year we had 11 travel Authors and Film makers signed up to be with us. This year the sign ups are looking good already and 1 new book at least is going to be launched there. The ideal opportunity to have a natter with the authors and makers, and to snag signed copies.

Thanks mate. If there's any way I can get there, I will. Otherwise it'll be the second time I've missed Ted Simon!

Also I know I'm gonna be tied up around that time (late June) for the next couple of years, so it's this year or bust as far as the near future is concerned - (unless you happen to change the dates in future years)

Thanks; I appreciate the conundrum - I've seen quite a few tyre-only changes! If anyone else can offer advice, great! thanks for asking, Sam.

Who are Adventure Spec Ltd, the HUBB UK main event supporters?

The company was established in September 2007 by Dave Lomax and Chris Colling. Both mad keen adventure motorcyclists they had little luck in finding a reliable source for the essential kit they required for real independent off-road travel.

The plan was simple; if a suitable product was available locally Adventure-Spec would stock it. If a suitable product was available abroad Adventure-Spec would import it. If a suitable product was not available Adventure-Spec would manufacture it. Finally, the idea wasn't just about what was sold, it was about the way it was sold and the knowledge base of those who sold it.
Today that plan is well on its way to becoming reality. Adventure-Spec products are tested almost 365 days a year by riders on expeditions, races and trips all over the world. Product development and acquisition continues daily and each newly stocked piece can be bought from one of the most advanced on-line shops in the industry, and if you need advice about products you can call and speak to riders with expert product knowledge and a ridiculous passion for their subject.

Chris and Dave say, ‘If we like it we use it, and only then do we sell it. That way everything we sell can be certified ‘Adventure-Spec’!

Don’t forget to click on the Adventure Spec link on the HUBB UK site for the full gen.

Have you heard of Ollie Lloyd yet? Make sure you nab him for a chat about what he's up to. Special bloke methinks.

And he's giving some time to help out on the Skills Course too! Just click on the picture so you can read it all.

Thanks for the updates Sam - keep them coming... anticipation only heightens the enjoyment!

In sunny Spain now for a while - but looking forward to getting back and pitching up in June. In fact, I've just got around to booking and paying for my spot - plus a couple of notes for that most excellent of causes.

Looking forward to catching up with everyone... not long now je iger

Excellent Pat. I've been working away all weekend and have only just seen that your registration is through. It'll be great to see you again! Love your graphics string by the way. Much of HUBB UK summed up with no words

There's excellent news in! Background first though. One of the things the HUBB UK has done since the very early days is to raise money for a charity. The charity has to be appropriate for overlanders; something we can all appreciate or connect with. Past charities supported have been for example, Motorcycle Outreach (MoR) and last year the Prostate Cancer charity. The latter one because well, most of you will know how badly this cancer hit Grant a couple of years back and of course, many people who come to the HUBB UK are in that dangerous age bracket. Grant by the way is doing amazingly well and is looking forward to being with us all again this year.

So who is the charity this year? :confused1:

It’s an organisation called ShelterBox. These guy pack up emergency equipment for those people who have been hit by a disaster. It might be flood, a war, a Tsunami, and earthquake and so on. They work all over the world and are often one of the first agencies on the ground with their boxes of kit – tents, blankets, cooking equipment and so on. The basics you’d need to survive if you’d just lost everything! Many of us have travelled or will travel through the areas where they help. Have a look at the link to find out more. We aim to help them to ‘Put a lid on Disaster’.

Why am I posting all of this?

Because this year the charity raffle prizes are going to be huge!

Not only do all the exhibitors at the HUBB UK very kindly stump up raffle prizes but outside organisations are helping too. And they are doing so with some magic prizes.

Get this, the Adventure Bike Shop have stumped up a £500 tent! And Turcano Urbano have sent in 6 jackets, 3 pairs of gloves, a back protector, 4 pairs of shoulder armour and more. Amazing!!!

Have a look at the HUBB UK page to see who else is so kindly sending in raffle prizes. Brilliant!

Now here's a fine bit of news. Suzuki have just told us that they will be bringing bikes for you guys to test ride! Nice one.

You do need to bring both parts of your licences though!

Any heads up on which bikes? Sounds interesting . . .

edit: Obviously the new V-Strom might be on offer, but I'm hoping for something smaller / lighter?!?

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
