More good news? Oh yes, Simon Gandolfi looks as if he's going to be presenting with us this year. And hopefully he's going to be bringing some of his books along.

Check out the Authors and Film makers marquee in the courtyard - some excellent writers and film makers are going to be with us - just look at the Presentation schedule to see who.

And I'm going to be really bad and put a bit of self promo in here too Birgit will have copies of all of my books in the HU Store. You'll find that in the courtyard, so do nab a copy or two if you've a mind.

She's also going to have the full range of HU DVDs, HU T-shirts and a small selection of spare HUBB UK shirts if you've not already ordered. First come...

The HU Store is also where you'll find the tables with the fantastic selection of raffle prizes. Take a good look when you get a minute. The charity - ShelterBox! Fantastic!

Volunteer Rotas

Hi everyone
If you Volunteered to help make it all happen at the HUBB UK, then please check your in boxes.

This morning I've sent out the volunteering rotas for everyone except the Skills Course and the Slow Bike Race. I'm planning to get those out to everyone tomorrow. Just waiting for some info to come to me.

Iain is sending out the Presentation Crew Rotas to those of you going to be on that Crew.

If you volunteered and I've not been in touch - that could be an IT glitch or me being an idiot! Please PM me.

A huge thank you to everyone who is giving up a few hours of time over the 4 days! It's you guys that make it all possible. Cheers!

Apologies for being slow getting them out this year.

If you haven't volunteered yet and would like to - fantastic. Yes please. Could you use this link please. Love to hear from you. This is the form to use when you have already registered but now think - 'Yep, I'll help.' http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/eve.../volunteer.php

All the Crews are sorted now except The Digi Tech Crew for the Presentations and the Registration Crew.

Presentation Schedule Now Online

The presentation schedule is now online for your event-planning delight and delectation. Click here to download the PDF

As always happens every year, there'll no doubt be the odd tweak to it here and there in the final days before the event, so make sure you check the printed versions displayed around the venue when you arrive.

Some sad news

Received emails from Chris and Maya this morning (thanks both) letting me know the sad news that Michael Anderson passed away over the weekend (read more here).

Michael was due to give a couple of presentations at HUBB UK and is shown on the version of the schedule currently online. I'll be updating it asap and leaving the two sessions on Friday and Sunday empty out of respect to Michael.

Time for a sneaky look at the layout.

The attached map shows how everything is going to be laid out this year. These will be up around the site from the Registration Marquee onwards.

Those of you who came last year, well, you'll see a fair few changes. Looking good methinks.

Just one quick thought for everyone with motorcycles. Can you leave the hard standing pitches free for Expedition vehicles please. Ta muchly

Update on what we're doing! We're in Kappel, a tiny village in southern Germany catching up with website stuff and email.

We're also preparing for the Touratech Germany Travel Event - we're doing three talks, then on Tuesday riding to Calais, and on Wednesday Dover to Donington - and you're welcome to join us on either or both legs! There will be riders from the continent, plus a couple of Aussies who popped up, and a large contingent, at last check around 20, joining us in Dover for the ride to Donington.

We're really looking forward to it, so hope you can join us! All the details are here and here, and in German. The Moto Adventure Nights crew have done a great job sorting it all out to make it a great ride.

And of course we're especially looking forward to the HUBB UK, our original and premiere HU travel event! Hope to see you all there!

Y'know we are doing the raffle in aid of ShelterBox and that with the prizes that have been collected and those being donated by each of the exhibitors we'll have over 50 prizes?

Well, here's something new.

This year we are going to do an auction. Two amazing prizes have been donated and well, this is one of them. A £500 tent from Adventure Bike Shop!

News on the next auction shortly! It's very special!

The auctions are going to be happening in the Marquee Cinema, just before the raffle prizes are drawn.

Friday Saturday

Hi Sam,
I'd like to visit HUBB UK this month but due to other commitments would only be free on Friday and Saturday. Is there a way of me staying over just Friday night without buying a four day pass??

Hi wayfarer, good to hear from you and thanks for asking about a Friday - Saturday Pass. I'm really sorry - I'm afraid there isn't such a thing. There's the full 4-day pass, a 2-day Thursday-Friday pass or a 2-day Saturday-Sunday pass.

If you have a look at the Schedule that was published recently you'll see what an amazing number of presentations, films, competitions, demonstrations, ride outs, test rides, Skills course, Slow Bike Race and all are going on on Friday and Saturday so your £65 would be well spent methinks. Real ale bar too I hope you can still make it.

If you can, don't miss out on booking before 9pm on the 12th. That's when the advance booking discounts cease to be.

Many thanks Sam :-) We are still hoping to ride down, but I needed to ask, just in case.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
