Sorry to hear that Mark. I hope your ribs recover soon but when I did mine last year (tripped on tree roots in a running race) it was 8-9 months before the last vestiges went. I was back on my feet in a couple of weeks but they hurt on exercise for quite some time. I think if you venture onto the roads in any pedestrian form - cycling obviously but running / walking also, it's just a matter of time. Hardly a day goes by for me without without somebody 'misjudging' the space they give me when overtaking.
Actually I don't think they genuinely misjudge it very often. Maybe your lady did but usually either they don't care or there's some kind of 'teach you a lesson' aggression going on. The last two times (both this week) for that sort of thing for me were one by a bicycle when I was running on a quiet road in the Cotswolds. The road was empty but he still came by close enough to brush my shoulder. The second was on my vintage Yamaha where a bloke came past on an empty dual carriageway still in my lane. That was a BMW, but not a car - a loaded up GS. That was another miss by an inch. That's two in a week but it's every week.
I guess the police will come to some decision in your case but I'd have thought a claim for personal injury would be straightforward (or as straightforward as these things ever are) if she's prosecuted.
