Rally raid kit for Honda CB500X

Hi all,

I'm looking at getting a Honda cb500x with RR kit for a trip around the USA early next year. I plan on doing the doable parts of the TAT. As I'll be coming from Australia I will be buying the bike in the USA and looking to either buy one with a kit already installed or get one fitted over there.

If the later, I was looking firstly at who ships in Rally Raid kits and secondly, either a space to work and fit it or ideally get a shop to fit it. I contacted giant loop who used to have RR in stock but they said they don't get it in anymore.

Therefore I'm looking for any advice on the best way to get RR products for the cb500x in the USA and a place to potentially help me fit it. I'll be buying the bike in Arizona so a place in that state or in a neighbouring one is preferred.

Cheer,
Tam

There seems to be a healthy trade in bikes, including RR-equipped ones, on the CB500X specialist forum: https://www.cb500x.com/index.php/board,23.0.html

Bumping this old thread a bit

With the new 2019 edition, the CB500x now comes with a front 19" wheel although not spokes ones.

Would you guys still go with the rally raid upgrades, level 1 or level 2?

What would you guys upgrade on the 2019 edition to make it real adventure ready?

Cheers!

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
