You miht try looking at the newer Pegaso Trail 2006 to 2009 which use the Yam 660 single which go on forever.
I've had one for 7 years now and still love it. there are a few problems which happen to them as with any bike, but they are all simple and cheap fixes. thing like fuel pumps, ignition wires and corrosion to coil.
Will be much more agile off road than a transalp from just looks because it has a 19 inch front and sopked wheels. you can get some good off road rubber for them.
As any lardy 200kg+ bike, its never going to perform amazingly off road unless you are a pro but it isn't bad. will sit on a motorway all day too, but it it a tad buzzy.
I find everyone thinks they are a breakdown magnet, but I don;t think so. Yes I've had a few breakdowns but the bike is now 10 years old and is on 60 000 miles. Its worth a look!
