I've travelled in Iran with my dog in 2011 without any problem.
You need to have the passport and also a certificat e about rabbies: I don't know the exact English word for it but this certicate is to prove that your dog is free of this illness (in France it's called a "serologie").
I did't need to have it for entarnce in Iran but for coming back in France and it's mandatory for any country you are coming from, not only Iran.

rabies test

Hi,

And have the test done in time. I had my dog vaccinated a month before I left. The certificate (blood test) is a separate, official document that you can insert in the dog's passport. Take anti worm treatments and something against ticks and fleas.

Travelling with your dog can be great fun!

Happy travels,

Gee

Thank you for all the informations. I took my dog to Georgia and Armenia last year and I did all the needed vactinactions like rabbies, leptospirosis... and it went ok. I also found some certificates on the net which in the end did not need. So again thank you because i thought in Iran things could be different. Just two more question: are there many stray dogs in cities of Iran? Did you have any problems with walking your dog in the cities, how people reacted?
Gee you have a nice dog, there are many rodesians in my city and my Kona(belgian sheppard dog-malinois) just loves theme, great dogs.

We travelled with our dog in our car, not often walkin with in the cities, but in the country. We didn't noticed any bad reaction from Iranian people about or dog.

Remember if your dog is female she will need to be suitably covered in Iran

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
