Shipping from Paris, France to Houston, Texas

Hello,

I am a US citizen who owns a bike in France. I would like to bring my bike to the US for the summer. I am planning an 8 to 10 week trip in the US and possibly Mexico.

Does anyone have a shipping company they can recommend? How hard is it to pass customs? I.E, what types of documents will be needed?

Unfortunately, I don't think I can get the bike to Germany. I can get the bike to Paris. My bike is currently located in Lille, France close to the Belgium border.

The bike would have to be shipped to Houston, Texas. I am somewhat getting desperate and might consider having it shipped to Mexico if that's a possibility.

Do you guys crate or would the bike have to be crated first? Do you help with Customs?

we could send the bike from Bremerhaven to Galveston, TX. in this case the bike has not to be crated as we are using a RoRo-vessel. this works like a ferry without passenger.

We might have a Chance to arrange a collection of the bike in Belgium but sadly our trucking companies do not serve France.

I don't know about the bike not being crated... What about possible damages? Also, how long would it take to ship the bike by sea?

Where in Belgium would you be able to collect the bike? I can try and see if I can find a shipping company from Lille to Hamburg.

I am not sure I can bring the bike to the US... It seems like a lot of hassle to get through Customs. I am considering Mexico. Would it be an option to send the bike to Mexico? Would it have to be a specific town/ port?

if the bike is under EU-Registration you can use it up to 12 months with French plate. You need an authorization from EPA. The application is not a big deal, we can assist. We have shipped out bikes on These vessels regular, of course we cannot guarantee, but up to now we had no complaints of lost or damage at all. I coul check if we're able to collect in Belgium, costs approx EUR 400,00. Or you deliver to Bremerhaven (not Hamburg)

I am not going to get clearance from the EPA. I already checked with them. They do not give an import permit to residents trying to bring in foreign vehicles.

Are you able to ship to Mexico?

oh that's new for me. Yes we can ship to Mexico, but the customs in Mexico is difficult and needs time and Patience for clearance

I have taken an American car into Mexico. The procedure was fairly easy. Is the procedure different coming from Europe?

Would you be able to ship the bike by plane or is it just by sea?

And would I still have to get the bike to Hamburg or would it be somewhere else?

the customs procedure should be different if you drive yourself through customs or having to clear it at port/Airport.
We can offer both ways to you: air and sea, but if should be more easy if you deal with customs at the Airport. In both cases the bike has to be crated.
Just saw there is a RoRot-traffic to Veracruz. Would this be an Option for you?

If you can fly the bike, what are the destinations? Or would it only be Mexico City? I am guessing Mexico City would be the cheapest... How much are we talking about for flying the bike?

My wife is from Mexico and has family who still lives there. But they live in Monterrey which is close to the US border. Veracruz is about 800 miles from Monterrey. And I've never been to Veracruz. But if we do the Roro-vessel, there's no need to crate the bike, right? I just worry about possible damage.

I read somewhere that airport taxes are a lot cheaper than port taxes. What's the difference?

Do you help with Customs paperwork for Mexico?

we could fly into Mexico City. Certainly there is a danger of damages on a RoRo-vessel, in our experience by sending RoRo to US we never had serious complaints of lost /damage.
The port charges are normally much higher than the airport fee but this has nothing to do with customs tax.

best regards
Olaf

Would you be able to quote me on sea transport to Mexico versus Air transport to Mexico?

Would you foresee any problem with Customs if I have an American passport with a registered motorcycle in France?
