Need a Florida Address

Hi Folks,

Been reading this site for well over a year and am happy to finally join and post. Was planning a long trip from Ontario out west to Alberta this summer then south into the states in time for some nice weather. However had issues getting a reasonable quote on insurance (classic Ontario), and after running out of time I found out I could licence a bike in Florida. I've spoken to a ton of DMVs on the phone to confirm and they've all told me the same thing. It's doable as a non resident, in fact I appearantly won't need an address they can just use the one on my Ontario licence. However after talking to some insurers down there I understand I'm going to need an address to get insurance, which I do not have. I don't have anyone to turn to in Florida. I'm flying to Daytona early November and will look around for a small affordable cruiser. Anyone have any advice on getting an address? Think a dealer or someone selling a bike would let me use theirs? Or would a PO box be more than a terrible idea?
Thanks everyone.

Hey Slam

I am doing the same thing as you are, do you have any news? Could you use a PO box or even a hotel would be fine?

I'm buying in Florida too

Hey guys,

I think you can use a hotel. My plan is to sell the motorbike in California or Arizona. Thoughts on that?

Let's keep talking. When you guys going or are you already there? I'm thinking Feb 15-25.

cheers Brad

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
