Motorcycle Insurance - South East Asia
Hi all, we're just about to head off on our trip and will be buying a small bike (no bigger than 125) in Vietnam to take across Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia then India.
I'm looking for bike insurance as most travel insurance will not cover medical AND liability incase an accident was my fault.
I've heard you can buy insurance at each border but have also heard that it's useless if you have to claim.
Does anyone have a recommendation on companies to go with or experience of making a claim?
thanks and stay safe!
**Update**
I've found a policy with STA travel that covers motorcycle use up to and including 125cc (most other policies cover up to 124cc) They've confirmed that it is valid on a UK bike license and covers medical and personal liability - so if you've in an accident that turns out to be your fault they will cover your costs and the other party.
STA are slightly more pricey online but if you pop into a branch they may do you a 'special discount'. Ours turned out around £800-odd for the two of us.
I'd compared this with Insure and Go who would add on the extra 1cc to top it up to include 125cc at a cost of £316pp for a maximum of 30 days, on top of a £500 policy AND they didn't cover personal liability. No thank you.
