Hi Lea,
some decades ago, an argentinian physician (not psychologist, but at the same age as you now) made a tour on motorbike through Southamerica - not alone. At least he was killed in Bolivia. In between he made his job/work, e.g. Minister of Industry of Cuba and international revolutionlist in Cuba, Angola, Bolivia and other countries - Ché (Ernesto Guevara).
I do not know, where are you from (maybe USA? Germany? A common german female name is Lea. "Vive" is french! Vive la France! - Mark Twain - please read his book in the long travelling by bus (or plane) to Chile - "Innocents abroad" and, if there is time left, the uruguayan Eduardo Galeano - "Las Venas Ab-iertas de America Latina" and especially for Colombia "Cien a~nos de soledad" of the colombian Nobel-price-winner Gabriel García Márquez - all the books are available in english, french, german and many other languages).
Greetings from the South-West of Germany (I travelled and worked for more then two years in Latinamerica - Colombia, Ecuador, Perú, Cuba, Nicaragua, Honduras, El Sálvador, Guatemala and others).
Ferdi
