Searching for travel partner South America
Hey!
I am a 26 year old psychologist with a part time remote job and just got my motorbike license. I will be in South America for the rest of the year and would like to buy a motorbike in chile or Argentina to go around. Since I am very new to motorbiking I will go chill. I am pretty flexible with the timing and I will bring a tent, so preferably lots of camping. I like to be outdoors and hiking as well. I would like to share my trip with someone. Let me know if you are interested! Cheers Lea |

When do you plan to be in South America and what country will you be starting in

Hello! I am already in Colombia at the moment and would like to head to Chile in the next 1-2 months. I think I’ll buy the bike in Santiago. I am pretty flexible with everything. :)

It is difficult, though not impossible, to find compatible riding buddies in advance this way. Most often, potential partners change plans, flake out, or turn out wholly incompatible when they do show up. Chances are much better meeting and joining fellow riders enroute once you're already riding, especially if you happen to be 1) sociable, 2) female, and/or 3) prone to going where other riders go.
I don't mean to be unduly discouraging, but I do want to offer a realistic perspective. Of course I'm always happy to be proven wrong. Hoping that's helpful, and wishing safe journeys! |
Thanks so much! Yes, I do think I’ll find some companions on the way as well. I just found the forum and thought I‘d give it a try.

Hi Lea,
some decades ago, an argentinian physician (not psychologist, but at the same age as you now) made a tour on motorbike through Southamerica - not alone. At least he was killed in Bolivia. In between he made his job/work, e.g. Minister of Industry of Cuba and international revolutionlist in Cuba, Angola, Bolivia and other countries - Ché (Ernesto Guevara). I do not know, where are you from (maybe USA? Germany? A common german female name is Lea. "Vive" is french! Vive la France! - Mark Twain - please read his book in the long travelling by bus (or plane) to Chile - "Innocents abroad" and, if there is time left, the uruguayan Eduardo Galeano - "Las Venas Ab-iertas de America Latina" and especially for Colombia "Cien a~nos de soledad" of the colombian Nobel-price-winner Gabriel García Márquez - all the books are available in english, french, german and many other languages). Greetings from the South-West of Germany (I travelled and worked for more then two years in Latinamerica - Colombia, Ecuador, Perú, Cuba, Nicaragua, Honduras, El Sálvador, Guatemala and others).
