Over 250cc motorcycle into Iran

Hi Overlanders,
I'd like to borrow your wisdom.

I'm going to start my world journey from UAE this July.
(Because of the recent situation, I couldn't ship my bike to Vladivostok or North America from Japan. The only port where I could schedule and ship my bike was Dubai....)

I'm going to enter Oman after UAE, and go up to the Arabian Peninsula.
If I have an entry stamp of Israel, there are many countries* I can't enter, so it might be reasonable to go east after Iraq. But I heard*that we can't enter Iran with motorcycles over 250cc from 2019.Unfortunately, my partner is Tenere700.Does anyone know the travel agent who allows us to enter Iran with a big bike for only 7 days?
Best Regards
Ryuhei from Japan

Hi Ryuhei

THe rule on bikes over 250 cc in Iran was mostly hearsay (people talking about nothing). It was very briefly enforced, I believe, a few years ago, but there is now no restriction. So no problem for your bike.

Best wishes

EO

This is not correct. It is much simpler to have a carnet de passages, but not mandatory.

Dear frameworkSpecialist and EO

I've prepared the Carnet.
So, it is no problem.

But I think my carnet doesn't list Iran as a country where I'm going to get my moto in.
In Japan, JAF(=Japanese association of the carnet) doesn't permit me to get my motorcycle into a country that isn't listed on my carnet.
But I'm suspicious about that.
Is it internationally ruled??

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
