Nicaragua - How to travel around

Hi all,

We will be in Central America in around 3 months and intend on travelling through to Mexico. Does anyone have any information/ suggestions on how to travel around Nicaragura dur to the current climate there. Apprently it is unsafe to travel through.

Any advice would be appreciated

David

Possibly make an alternative country?
Fly to Cuba and then to the next place. You'd need to check air fairs, but it does add some to the trip.

My suggestion would be to travel through Nicaragua at this point. Given what I've seen recently here in Honduras (we had road closures last week due to taxi drivers blocking most major roads in most large cities) I would not want to be out and about as a foreigner. From what I've heard, most travelers are zipping through Nica in a few days and then slowing the pace once they hit Costa Rica. When you get to Honduras (and decide to stay a few days instead of running through it) shoot me a PM if you want to meet up. I'm in the capital.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
