I only recently sold my 2006 R1200GS.
It's the most reliable BMW I've ever owned. By far better made and more reliable than a K1600. The generation of BMW's that the engineers had more say than the marketing department. I only sold it as I've had to move and id run out of space.
I'd do the usual checks on the GS (shaft, RWD etc) and take that.
I'm not sure if you have the K1600 or are going to buy one. I know the ones with reverse had problems. We had those apart quite often. Switch gears fail more than they should too.
