Is it possible to leave my motorcycle in Brazil for a month while out of the country?
I'm in the process of selling my KLR and bringing my Land Rover into Bolivia. The problem is that as a foreigner I can only have 1 vehicle in country at a time. I'm looking at storing my bike in Columba Brazil for a month while I prep the rover. Will this be possible? I've heard they have TIPs now and they are stamped on your passport as well. Is there any other way? Thanks

If you can store it in Argentina, I haven't heard of anyone being stopped from leaving a vehicle behind and returning before the tip expires (which will be either 3 or 8 months)

not the official way and you need to know it by yourself but...

when i crossed the border in Corumba in februrary nobody cared about my car. there is also a lot of traffic at the border just going through the whole day. they do not control. you could totally bring the car to brazil over the border without a tvip parking it in a garage and just go back to bolivia a few months later
i say it again it is not the legal way and you could be in trouble but actually i do not think so.

other possibility would be paraguay, it is closer than argentina and also a country where everything is easy going!

As per pickypalla post, you could cross from iguazu falls to foz de iguazu exit argentina and just ride into brazil stamp immigration and nobody is going to bother you about the bike just ride through. Could probably park it at the Hi hostel Paudimer they have big parking and are helpful. Maybe not 100% legal or maybe it is as i think there is some sort of free movement in that area.

So is there any reason one cannot leave Brasil while one have entered the country with a foreign vehicle? Have anyone actually been denied leaving the country for this reason?

Don´t use foz it is to far from Bolivia.

Ponta Pora is quite close. This border is open. But like i said, the Car traffic which goes through the border in Corumba they do not control.

Sometimes they check an! incomming car, but only once in a while. The outgoing traffic they did not check. Nevertheless ponta pora is almost risk free.

You can not be denied if you use the right borders in brazil

I would prefer Corumba because that's where my Defender is to bring into Bolivia once I've taken the bike out. My only concern there is me driving the KLR across will bring more attention than just a normal car. I'd hate to drive out there just to find out I can't get through without letting brazil know. Either way I gotta decide by the end of this weekend.

TIP in Brasil
I have entered Brasil in Porto Xavier, nobody is interested in Your bike. Left in Rivera (the border post is in the shopping center) so nobody is interested in your bike too .
About 10km after the border there is an Aduana post for Uruguay. If you want you can stop there and ask for TIP for Uruguay, otherwise nobody is interested too.
I have stopped and taken the TIP as I'll leave Uruguay through the ferry after Christmas so maybe someone will ask me about TIP?

If it is only for a month why not do it the legal way. You can get a 3 month TIP and yes you can leave tbe country. Customs (and so the TIP) is not linked with immigration (Policia Federal)
I have'nt heard of getting a stamp in your. passport in Brazil, and in case you get a custom officer who does just leave the country again and come back the next day....
