Group crossing Kyrgyzstan-China-Nepal/Laos, August 2015

Hello all,

A group of us are looking at doing the above crossing over 20 days, meeting in Kyrgyzstan on 28th August- one 4x4, three motorcyclists.

Obviously the Nepal crossing closed at the moment, but we're looking at the full range of options with flexibility built-in to address that. We're keen to find others to join our group to lower the cost.

If you're interested, feel free to DM me or post here.

Cheers

Ed

Hi Ed,
Im currently booked in with a Chinese company (via Motoexplorers) to cross China to Laos in 25 days.
4 of us will be in Kazazakstan about a week before we meet at the Torugart Pass on Sept 7-8th, when the guides takes over.
Its not my tour, but given there are savings in numbers, I wud be happy to put you in touch with Motoexplorers if you were interested in joining the China - Laos guided section.
Of course if you are already booked in with guides, then the above is irrelevant.
Russ.

I´m not going but I know a group, of four, who plan to (currently via India & Burma, but getting carnets seems to provide unexpected obstacles right now, so maybe plan B might be in order). Their timing seems to fit this perfectly.

What kind of total cost for China border crossings & guided crossing of the country are you looking at..?

Its depends on final numbers but I think our costs are currently about £5,300 for 25 days support, including all accommodation costs, guides, support vehicle, documents etc.

BUT having just looked at their website, MotoExplorers it would appear its too late to book in on this particular trip. Perhaps you could give them a call directly if its a serious option - they may be able to do something.

Yes, that's per head !
And I also think its a lot, but in fairness, I guess I can only comment on "value for money" after I have experienced the actual tour.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
