A 2 Day Trip to Pak Chom, trying to avoid the rain, 070825

Day 2

The plan was to ride back home and try to use the smaller roads rather than stay on the main roads, and avoid the rain!





Another good days riding with some nice scenery
Some of the roads used were the 201, 3011, 3150, 4016, 3006 and the 2004 plus some un-named roads.

Once I had left Chiang Khan I stopped off and filled up at the PTT on the 201 on the outskirts of CK. I had bit of breakfast then took a left a few k's down the road on to the 3011.

The day was pretty much the same as yesterday, a mixed variety of roads with flat lands and hills and mountains. All making for an enjoyable ride.

Knew roughly where I was, I stopped at the PTT at Wang Saphung so I could make best use of the KFC, it would be rude not to!
From there is was a quick blast on the 210 heading east to get back on to the smaller rural roads.

As I was nearing Phu Kradueng I went past a quarry and the dust in the area was turning everything white.


Back on a different part of the 3006, ‎⁨Phu Kradueng District⁩, ⁨Loei⁩, ⁨Thailand⁩

From there it was back on the 201 heading south, the clouds were beginning to form in front of me, and I was heading straight for them. I was hoping I could be home before the heavens opened.
7 k's from home on the 2004 and the deluge began, I was just going to ride through it, but the rain was coming down that hard I could not see the road in front of the bike, and the road was flooded in minutes. I knew exactly where I was so I found a place to shelter, scrounged some hot water and used one of my 3 in 1's to make a coffee in my flask cup to wait it out, I was soaked through.

About 20 minutes later the rain had subsided enough to push on. 3k's down the road there was not a hint that I had just been in a torrential downpour, everywhere was bone dry!! I was home within minutes, 584km ridden on this short trip out.

ha...ha... reminded me of our trip to Nong Khai where we stopped for lunch and as we paid the bill the rain started to fall.

Knowing the guest house was only a few minutes away, I quickly got on Tiger and reached the guesthouse before the heavy rain hit.

And you came in to the guesthouse about 20 to 30 minutes later.
