Five weeks from May 1st 2015

Every year Lida and I get away for a couple of weeks on the bikes. This year, with new BMW GS motorcycles, we got away on the 1st of May and covering 10,280 kms we traversed the roads through western NSW, central western Queensland up to Longreach, Charters Towers and on up to Normanton and then Karumba in the Gulf. After eating prawns ii the Gulf of Carpentaria and watching the sun set on the Gulf itself, we worked our way back to Mt Isa, picked up tent no 2 from the Post Office then continued on to Darwin where we stayed with my Neice at her amazing apartment in Parrap. Now, 48 years ago I actually lived in Parrap, so was astonished to see the total change that has occurred in my absence. Onwards down the Stewart Highway brought us to Alice Springs and in due course, Ulura and the Olgas. Continuing on we worked our way to Port Augusta and, with an eye on approaching weather conditions, decided to wend our way home via Balranald, Hay, Cowra and Bathurst. Lida takes photos and posts them immediately from her I Phone. Me, I take them, return home and do battle with Photo Shop then post. Rod.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
