My babies
These are my babies from left to right:

1)Under construction: MAN 18.290, our new overland vehicle, will be ready end of 03/2015
2)Our previous MAN 10.220, we did 315.000 km with this one, sold it few years ago, new owner still happy
3)Our current MAN 10.220, we did 169.000km with this one, now for sale
4)Our previous Landrover 130 DC TD5
5)Our current Landrover 110 Stawag, using it as a private car and to keep the road to our house clean.

Hi Jervig,

The latest MAN has a very ORMOCAR look about it. Do you have a website of any further details of equipment and systems?

What was the reason for selling the old truck and starting again?

Ormocar?? No way sorry!!

The reason to build a new one now is the last possibility to register Euro 5 without Ad Blue. Otherwise we could wait for 2 or 3 years.
Another reason is that it is nice to bring the 1/2 million km experience together in a new vehicle.
We started to doubt about selling our current MAN, more and more the idea to ship the new or the current one to another continent is settling.
In a few weeks I will complete the story about the construction in Dutch and put it on our website, after that I will translate it and put it here.

PS nice Leyland/Daf you have. On our last trip to Magadan we met some British with a Leyland/Daf and travelled together 2 or 3 times for a few days.

It was the cappings, the angled leading edge of the cabin, and apertures that appear to be ready for KCT windows that put me in mind of ORMOCAR. Look forward to seeing more details after the translation.

Thanks for the compliment re our truck. It's very capable but, of course, much less refined than a modern MAN.

It will be interesting to read about your take on low sulphur diesel, and engine management reliance upon electronics at some stage.

I hope the project goes well in the coming weeks and months: may your niggles be small and easily overcome...

Hi Jeroen, I will have to check the videos later.

But how is it for you overlanding in a big rig like that? I have seen many of this size, and I'm note sure if I can get used to them.

We used to travel in a Landcruiser, and now we have a 4x4 Campervan, which is a bit higher but overall it is still 5 meters like any other 4x4.

On one side I would like to go bigger (huge Sprinter 4x4 for example) but don't you ever get to miss out on stuff with such a big rig?
For example, I really like those mountain trails. Trails so small, climbing up the mountain, that even a Unimog would sometimes be too big. So having any wide and/or long vehicle would limit you somewhat.
But I guess, if you play around in desert area or open planes, the size is not so important.

No, we go trough bush and climb small "overgrown" paths as well. I don't care about scratches, its an overland vehicle not RR or Bently...

Our wheelbase is 360 cm Total lenght is 720, not overdone I think.

Succes deciding what to do...

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love.
