Hello we are 2 friends with rented Yamaha Tenere in Marrakech and in Jannuary we would like to cross from Zag to Smara.

The road is not fully asphalt ?
If not is it solid base or with sand that is not easy with motorbikes ?
What you can suggest regarding fuel (as our motorbikes have limited tank ?

Thanks to anyone will post infos.....

The road from Zag to Smara is off limits to tourists. You will get stopped and sent back. It was mentioned earlier in the discussion

Thanks TheWarden, what do you think a tour from Tan Tan to Smara (rest for one night) and the following day go to El Aaiun ?
From Smara to El Aaiun is full asphalt ? Gasolin station in between ? Thanks

yes full asphalt. Fuel in Tantan, just as you enter the Western Sahara and also in Smara and Laayoune. I don't recall anything between Smara and Laayoune but I haven't driven that road for 3 years

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
