N12 road conditions

Hi guys?

Has anyone been driving on the N12 road (or M8 as refered in Sahara Overland) from Zagora to Foum Zguid lately?
I would like to know if it is passable with a normal, non 4x4 car such as Peugeot 206 or similar??
As i see it in the google earth this road is partly sealed.
I'll be riding on my motorbike, but some friends will follow me in a rented car...

Thx a lot!

Hi,

The road was 99% complete when we were there last month and easily doable in a regular car.

Unfortunately this was just before the massive storms. The section from Zagora to Bou Rbia is good, fast asphalt and now only an hour's drive. The section west of Bou Rbia was always the worst part of this route and subject to flood damage. Once you get to the corner where the road swings from WSW to WNW heading for Foum Zguid you should be OK.

Best to ask in Zag or FZ.
Anyone out there now?

Happy trails

Thx for info, Peter.
The damage of the floods is what worries me...It's not really a major road so i dont know if there is a lot of damage when will it be repaired.
I'll be going there in spring

I'll be there mid-March and will report back unless anyone is out there sooner.

Happy trails,

Peter

It's been fairly trashed in the past, especially the section from the middle running west. The road builders have been installing massive concrete culverts to take the flood waters which run north to south across the route of the road.

But this route is used quite a lot now that it's been regraded, so I would expect quick work arounds to any problems for 2-wheel drive traffic.
