Exclamation Urgent help needed in Mendoza, Argentina

Hello Friends ,
I am looking for some help for my fellow rider from Bulgaria who had serious accident and is in a hospital in Mendoza, Argentina.
He has to be repatriated to Bulgaria, but has issues handling the local formalities being in the hospital. We would be grateful if someone from Mendoza community who speaks English would be willing to assist. My friend’s bike seems to be a total wreck, but needs to be transported back to Chile - help is needed on this too (PoA can be issued).
I am in contact with my friend, he is reachable on his mobile or WhatsApp/Viber.
Any info or local contact would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!
Vesso

Facebook pages/ groups like from Horizons Unlimited, PanAmerican Travellers Association and PanAmerican Route-Riders Association are likely to receive a thousand fold more eyeballs than this formerly busy bulletin board.

Very best of luck to your friend. Fingers crossed!

Sorry to hear of your friend,
Perhaps a suggestion would get someone to contact the Customs Office in MDZ who may have a suggestion re motorcycle.
If it is that bad- they may write it off and you hand it over to them.

I hope your friend is insured to get back home.

Hi Vesso
We're in touch directly on FB Messenger. I've contacted a couple of Argentine friends who likely have contacts in Mendoza. Definitely also ask on the FB groups I mentioned above too.

Re. getting the bike from Argentina to Chile, luckily Mendoza to Santiago de Chile really isn't far. My experience of Argentina customs at that border post near Mt. Aconcagua is that the customs official is somewhat "slack" in his attitude to doing his job. My bike is still officially in Argentina since 2019 as he flatly refused to discharge the bike's Argentine TIP... My Spanish was good enough to politely request he do his job.

The bike did legally enter Chile... And has long since left South America in a container from Val Paraiso port in Chile. You saw the bike at my luggage presentation in 2023

Wishing your friend all the very best. Is he able to fly independently, without help?

Thanks to all who responded with suggestions and advice!
Unfortunately communication with my friend in Mendoza is not easy. I get occasional messages from him and it is difficult to assess his situation completely. He mentioned issues with payments and that his injured leg is a mess.
It seems he could not arrange repatriation and will have a surgery there.
His brother will try to get to Argentina to help… :-(

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
