I am also fairly new to HU and my first visit to a HU event. I missed the western NC event last year.

I will be heading west from NC.

A fitting Post #1 for me!

Hello Grant, curious if there will be vendors at the meetup, and if so, who?

Sorry, at this time, there are no vendors signed up. As soon as we get any we'll post it on the web page for the event.

It's a little "out-of-the-way for vendors, and a small meeting, maybe 100-150, so little incentive for them.

It's all about the RIDING at this one!

Final Agenda for Colorado HU Meeting

HU Central has hammered out the final agenda for the July Meeting in Grant, Colorado. Presenters were drafted (dragged onto the agenda by their well-worn motorcycle boots), volunteers volunteered and bears run out of the campground. The venue is a private campground and owners Al and Liz Gross have made special preparations for our return, including extra hours for the BBQ shack and colder water in the stream that flows through the campground for HU Iron Men and Iron Women who wish to take a skinny dip.

Answer to a question I saw elsewhere.

OHV stickers are required for travel on designated OHV trails. These are trails that are 50" or less including single-track. These stickers are required regardless of whether the bike is plated or not.

For "off-road" that consists of dirt roads etc. that are not designated OHV trails then you plate will suffice.

All the riding that was done at the event last year was covered by being plated and there were no runs that I know of that would have required an OHV sticker.

Colorado Meeting Reportage and photos

A few pics and words on some of what I saw:

Dr. Frazier: Search for Limitless Horizons - Motorcycle USA

It was great fun, again, even the wet evenings.

The most important lesson I learned was a 20 year-old tent bought to use one or two times should be thrown away after those one or two times. A volley ball net would have kept more water out. What kept me from sleeping in water was the queen size blow-up air mattress.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
