Colorado USA Travellers Meeting, Friday July 11 - Sunday July 13, 2014

After the success of last years Colorado Campfire and Ride Mini Meeting, everyone's raring to go again!

Registration information and reg form is now posted

Register early and save over 40%!

Thanks to Gregory Frazier, Chris Kelly and David Rankine for making this event happen!

Greg has found a great venue, in the mountains in Grant CO, with camping along a nice creek. Plan is for Friday night 'chill and swill evening', with ride outs on Saturday and presentations Saturday evening. It's different from the usual HU Meeting, so read the page carefully - it's all about RIDING! :mchappy:

Thanks for anything you can do to help spread the word about the event. There is a poster that you can print off and hand around to local venues and bike shops too:

Ed Haywood made a video of the rally at Grant last year which can be viewed at https://vimeo.com/71934942 The plan is to put on the 2014 rally the same way with presentations Friday and Saturday evening and with an effort made Friday evening to pair riders up by ability to ride over Colorado Passes in groups Saturday. As can be seen from the video food and adult beverages are available on site. There is great on and off pavement riding around Grant. Dave

Let me tell you folks! This upcoming Colorado HU meeting in Grant, Colorado will be awesome! Just put it in ink on your calendar today! I went this past July and had a fantastic time! Greg, Dave and the crew did a fantastic job with this whole event! It was my first meeting after joining HU, and it was everything I hoped it would be!

I have been riding for 30 years, but mostly dirt bikes in Texas and Harleys all over the USA. Never have I crossed a border yet... so, that is why I went. I had just bought in to the whole idea of traveling to Central and South America solo on a bike and I wanted to learn as much as possible from others who had already made a big trip. Of course, as most of you know, Dr. Greg Frazier is currently on his 6th trip around the world. So he is quite a resource of information for a novice like me - heck, he's a resource for most veterans! He is also a fine gentleman and was a pleasure to spend time with in Grant. And Dave Rankine is another great guy who has quite a storied history on bikes as well. I learned a lot from the both of them. Their presentations were great!

If you study your Butler map of Colorado (get one if you don't have one already), you will see that Grant, Colorado is a spectacular location for a meeting like this. There are so many super cool day trips to take if you are operating out of Grant. Tons of easy scenic mountain passes if you are in to that, and plenty of more challenging passes, as well, like Mosquito Pass - my personal favorite. It's in the middle of nowhere, but yet it is still a quick trip from there if you want to find a good restaurant for dinner or breakfast... or a bar to go hang out. There is good food at the campground as well... So, I did all of the above.

There is a small hotel there with a few rooms. I stayed there one night, and it was a very nice clean cheap little place (I don't remember the name). It is right across from the entrance to the campground. If you are the type that wants a room, it will suit most anyone's taste.

I camped 4 nights in the campground. It's a beautiful area! I camped right on the river and slept like a baby except when it hailed the one night!:helpsmilie::rain:

It was an awesome time. And it was so inexpensive! I highly recommend it! :thumbup1:

Grant, I would start a new string with this, but I don't have 5 posts yet so the rules prevent me from doing this... unless I am missing something here.

The 5 post thing is only for Private Messaging. Starting a new thread, no limit! Just be sure to click the "New Thread" button at the top of the INDEX page for this forum - it's not available when you're in a THREAD like this one.

Note that replying as you did is absolutely the CORRECT thing to do here - your comment is about this event, and this is the place for comments on it. :)

Great to hear you enjoyed it so much!

You COULD also post on the Facebook Event page for it:

Anyone from BC or Washington State heading to this event

I'm located in the Lower Mainland of BC. Considering a ride to Colorado and was just wondering if anyone else in this area is planning to attend the event.

Would be interested in connecting with any other riders headed that way that are also looking for others to ride with.

Cheers,

John

This looks like it will be great and I plan on attending. I went to the 2006 and 2007 Colorado meetings and really enjoyed them, and it is time for me to head back to Colorado. I'm ready to ride!
