I had registered for the event and was fully intending to attend until last weekend when the Covid numbers in France were going through the roof. I spent a couple of hours discussing the trip with my family before making the reluctant decision that, as I'm in the 'danger zone', discretion might be the better part of valour on this occasion. I'm not sure if anyone else has found themselves in the same boat but I do hope my absence can be filled by someone whose circumstances are better.
The prospect of 14 days self isolation on return didn't really bother me and neither did all the other hoops that seem to be there to trip over. Many of them seem to be only in the minds of politicians and in practice don't exist at all. My son came over to the UK a few weeks ago and was subject to - nothing. He understood he was expected to self isolate here for 14 days but there was no paperwork and no checking on whether he was isolating or not. He just flew in as normal and left as normal.
