Smile HU France 8th meeting 18-20 Sep 2020!

« HORIZONS UNLIMITED » English below

The French meeting for motorcyclists, cyclists or 4x4 travelers is happening from September 18th to 20th in Loupiac (Lot).

Horizons Unlimited invites all adventure lovers for a weekend of meetings, exchange, workshops and ride-outs, in Loupiac, in the Lot Department, all in a convivial atmosphere.

Do you dream about traveling, but still hesitate?

Come and inspire yourself alongside those who have realized their dreams and have returned from their journeys, by listening to the stories of their adventures, by discovering their travel movies and by simply talking to them.

Do you have a specific road trip project and still have some details that you need to work on?

Come and gather information by participating in practical workshops covering the BASECAMP software and in workshops covering all aspects of preparations (tire repair, mechanics), which will allow you to be able to deal with any and all unforeseen situations.

A library area with maps, travel guides, road books, as well as the presentation and display of the latest technical gear, will also be available.

Do you want to leave and ride off right away?

A great half-day ride-out is also scheduled and road books will be available on site for those who wish to explore the region on their own.

Far from being just another exhibit by tour operators, Horizons Unlimited seeks to be, above all, a meeting between seasoned adventurers, novice travelers, and globe-trotters in the soul... All gathered together and driven by the same desire, that to realize their dreams of adventures on the less traveled roads of the world and to share them.

Mark your calendars, registration opens soon!

We know you are wondering whether Horizons Unlimited events are going ahead as planned, and how that may affect your own travel decisions. Your health and well-being are our top priorities, so please take care of yourself and your family.

We are working with our local organising teams and event venues, and monitoring regional and global developments, including travel bans and restrictions on events. Decisions will be made together with the local organising team and announced as far in advance as possible.

This event is currently going ahead as planned.

This may change at any moment, so stay in touch through the HUBB forum or social media. We will be providing updates on the 1st and 15th of every month, OR as needed. Stay updated here: https://www.horizonsunlimited.com/covid

Please direct your questions to: events-c@horizonsunlimited.com

Or post general comments of interest to the event on this thread.

We will send emails announcing changes only to everyone already registered for an event with all needed details.

Yes, I was signed up to go as well - from the UK - but I'm afraid the Covid upsurge has stopped me. A pity as I was looking forward to it. Sorry guys, maybe next year.

not to mention the automatic 14 days 'confinement' if you return, with the declation form which needs be completed and sent in no earlier than 48 hours before ETA in UK ...
Glad I enjoyed those small friendly meetings back in the old days!

The event is indeed on - but if you have not ALREADY pre-registered, please do NOT go as we are FULL! And no one wants the job of telling you you can't come in - but someone will have to, and that will suck all around.

I had registered for the event and was fully intending to attend until last weekend when the Covid numbers in France were going through the roof. I spent a couple of hours discussing the trip with my family before making the reluctant decision that, as I'm in the 'danger zone', discretion might be the better part of valour on this occasion. I'm not sure if anyone else has found themselves in the same boat but I do hope my absence can be filled by someone whose circumstances are better.

The prospect of 14 days self isolation on return didn't really bother me and neither did all the other hoops that seem to be there to trip over. Many of them seem to be only in the minds of politicians and in practice don't exist at all. My son came over to the UK a few weeks ago and was subject to - nothing. He understood he was expected to self isolate here for 14 days but there was no paperwork and no checking on whether he was isolating or not. He just flew in as normal and left as normal.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
