The slots are probably worn because in the past, someone has used a Phillips screwdriver to remove what they think are Phillips (cross-head) screws.
Honda does not use Phillips screws on any of their motorcycles. They use JIS (Japanese Industrial Specification) screws, which are very similar in appearance, but very different in design.
What you need to do, if you plan to do any maintenance work on your bike in the future, is to get yourself a set of JIS screwdrivers. That will make removing and installing fasteners a lot easier, and stop the damage to the fastener heads.
