Non ci vuole la residenza , lo puoi fare essendo turista .
Io ho la BMW R1200GSA , invece mio figlio la BMW R1150GS
No, you do not need to be a resident , you can buy a bike even being a tourist .

You are positive about tourist registration? That is exactly the answer I was looking for! (rather then the useless/long one from some guy earlier!)
In Mexico u do need a residence proof, so makes it EASIER IN Guate!
But sorry is not the bike I am looking for .Thanks anyway!

I checked with Honda Guatemala and you CANNOT REGISTER a bike in your name! here is their answer, same as in Mexico...better not to spread misleading info!
Buen día,
A su nombre no, a nombre de otra persona si, los requisitos son DPI y NIT.
Saludos cordiales.
Which means in your name NO.in the name of another (resident I guess) yes. u need DPI (ID) Guatemala Personal Document identification .
And NIT .Number Identification Tributaria (TAXes related)

The supposed information that you have from Honda is WRONG !!!!!
A non resident friend of mine just bought a Honda 2 weeks ago and registered it ion his name . He has a NIT (Tax ID) that every tourist can get in 2 hours and his foreign passport .
I personally have sold several vehicles to tourists , the last one in February .
I agree 100 % with you about not spreading wrong information :
DO YOUR HOMEWORK AND THINK TWICE BEFORE MAKING ANY ACCUSATIONS
https://portal.sat.gob.gt/portal/req...izado-notario/
This is the official website from SAT (Tax office)
It states clearly that foreigners can buy vehicles using their passport .

The original O/P hasn't posted since January - he probably got scared off by all the salt in this thread.

The original OP posted in January that he has given up the idea of buying a bike and that he would go for the rental option .
So nobody got scared off by any salt , pepper or nay other spices

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
