Strapped down Tiger for a year
Hello,
Due to the corona virus pandemic, I had to keep my bike strapped down in a crate for more or less a full year before I was able to get it back to Europe (from India).
Soooo, I just got it back and I'm starting to work on it to get it back and running.
I suppose being strapped down for so long did not do it any good for the suspensions. Do you guys have any recommendations on what to check ?

Check that the seals haven't failed and started leaking.
Bounce the bike around and check that is still has damping. Get a torch and check for any oil steaks from the fork seals and also the damper rod on the rear shock (if you can see it).
If all seems well, go for a ride and check again.

For the moment, there does not seem to be any leaks from the seals...
I'll take it for a spin as soon as I can get it to start
Thanks for the advice

So have you had the opportunity to get the bike started and, if so, how is the bike running?

Yeah so the front fork seals were leaking, had to change them.
As for the rear, the hose on the spring was also leaking soooo had to change the whole suspension too.
****ing virus....
Apart from that, the bike is perfect.

Was the hose damaged by being under higher pressure than normal for an extended period? And you had to replace the whole suspension.......?
It is great getting back onto the bike after a break isn’t it?

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
