Comments:

It was very difficult to find a reliable person who we could trust. After a couple of false starts we were introduced to Ahmed who works in cargo at Emirates at Dar Airport. Very nice guy who was very helpful. He introduced us to his favoured agent as Emirates do not deal directly with end customers.
The agent was called Luft Logistics run by Jiddawi Abdul. Really knows his stuff and immediately appreciated the need to get the crate size reduced to minimise the freight cost. We removed the front wheel as well as screens and mirrors. Got the chargeable weight by volume down to 330Kg as opposed to 525Kg on the way out - front wheel still attached. His number is +255 713 232 188. He also understood that we would not want to pay in advance so was happy to accept a bank transfer initiated only after the bikes were in transit. This gave us a lot of comfort as did the online access to the Emirates Skycargo system which showed the location and status of the bikes as they made their way back to the UK.
For 2 bikes we paid a total of $3,800. That included everything - crates, customs clearance, fumigation, dangerous goods and air freight. It may sound like a lot but the next best quote we received was from an agent in Nairobi at $5,000 and she wanted paid 100% in advance.
The bikes were a CCM GP450 and a BMW G650GS.
