xt660 3yf headlight bulbs

Hi all just a quickie!

I need to replace a headlight bulb but i cant find what the propper wattage should be on the workshop manual.

i have taken out the bulbs and they read: 12v 35 / 35 W H S I

A) what model bulb is this as all the ones i look for are H4 or H somthing or other or p45 etc. i have the twin headlight model and both do high beam

B) anyone know what the correct wattage should be? want to upgrade to brighter bulbs but want to run on the correct wattage.

Your help would be very much appreciated.

Don't go fitting uprated bulbs. I changed mine to standard 55/55w and melted the loom block under the tank with a week!
Not much fun trying to sort a decent replacement either

My TTRE has 35/35w as std....

I fitted 55/55w and they blew within 5 miles and got so hot they part melted into the bulb holder

I swapped for halogen 35/35w - instead of the std bulbs and it was a bit of an improvement - lit the mudguard up a bit better

Halogen bulbs are the way to go. I fitted one to my XT (can't remember the rating, but same as standard) and it made a huge difference. Basically from 'crap' to 'acceptable'.

Remember that as long as you keep to the same bulb rating (i.e. wattage), then you won't be drawing any more current than normal, so nothing will burn out. The difference is that with halogen bulbs more of the energy is turned into light and less into heat.

This month's RiDE magazine has a review of halogen bulbs.
