XT600N How to: R & R Swing Arm Protector/Chain Slider?
Hello;
First time on this Site.
I am in the process of Cleaning Up & Getting Running Well... An All Original - 1985 XT600N
I have been trying to figure out how to Install a New - Swing Arm Chain Slider without removing the Swing Arm to do it?
Is there an Easy Way to install this new chain slider without removing the Swing Arm to do it?
(I am thinking of Cutting Off part of the Bottom of the New Chain Slider thinking I then could Slide it into place and Bolt It Securely.)
Any Suggestions, Instructions and Especially Pictures will be Gratefully Appreciated!!

if you really want a bike of that age to run well, then removing the swingarm, checking condition of bearings, greasing them properly is actually a good idea anyway and a guarantee for it's next years of life. most likely they will be dry and in need of TLC. would never do such a botch just to save a few hours of work.

I Appreciate your Advice, yes I will be checking the Swing Arm Bearings and such at a later date, right Now I just want to be able ride the bike around a little bit, without the Drive Chain rubbing on the Aluminum Swingarm, to see what else I will need to do to it
If Anyone can give me an Answer to: "My First Post" I would Appreciate it.

Im with Bob on this one, we give good advice not a solution to "how do i bodge my bike"

Haha cut the plate and use screw around to get it stuck, hope this was the answear you wanted Like they say here, job would have been done by now if you didnt waste it thinking about what to do. Pull the bolts and do it right!

cholo, dont doubt it worked for you, but compared to a 250, a 600 has much more chain pull and when the chain rubs strongly on the top run, the chances it will drag alone the guard are higher.
not that it can be done, but once he'll dissasemble the shafts to grease them hell have to buy another guard to do the job properly, so why not do it once?

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB.
