Xt600e 1998

Hello Everyone,

This is my first post here ... but I have been lurking a little while. I'm in the process of purchasing an XT600E from overseas; I believe it's a 1997/1998 model although the owner is passing is as a 1999 model. I have two questions:

1) I think the model is a 3TB, what are the difference to the models that came later?

2) There is a kink on the left hand side of the down tube close to the header. The owner is saying that it's there to screw / unscrew the header pipe (see pic). Can someone confirm? Should there be another on the right hand side?

Thanks in advance for any help.
