Removing Chain
As supplied by Yamaha the chain will be riveted, and most after market chains will require riveting after installation. To remove a scrap old chain borrow a small linisher and linish the rivet heads on one link then remove the side plate and push the remaining sideplate and pins back through the chain. If done carefully this will not damage the rest of the chain. If using a split link be sure to press the new sideplate fully in before attempting to insert the clip ( I used the old sideplate as a spacer and clamped it ontop of the clip with just enough pressure to enable the clip to be slid into place, this ensured it located in the grooves first time and was not stretched). Hope this helps.
