Hi ssbon,
Not sure this will help much, but I've been trying to establish how good hein gericke stuff is as an alternative to the very expensive motorex oil recommended for my KTM.
My online searches have not been fruitful, but I did see one report of hein gericke oil being used in a KTM with no ill affect (I didnt find any reports of bad running).
Most things I've read seem to suggest that as long as the oil meets the relevant JAMO standard, then it should work fine. I use HG oil in my old bandit with no ill effects, but the bandit engines are unburstable and old tech, so I wouldnt draw any conclusions based on that.
If in doubt (which I am), I'd just buy the expensive stuff and forget about it

I dont doubt it in the least, that hein gericke oil, is produced by a major motorcycle oil company, like mobil for example, and is absolutely fine.
Not that it matters to me, I run Rotella T 15W40 in everything. wont hurt a thing, as its designed for heavy load applications in diesels. if you've got it available near you, go buy that up. I pay about $12 for one US gallon of it.

Have you every run synthetic in your bike? If not it may not take to well if it has high mileage. For the tt600 I'd run rotella all day long, for the cost you can change it more frequently if worried.
I run Elf full syn 10w-60 in my Norge. I get online for US$7.50 liter, Elf also has a 10-50 full synthetic for same price at oilwarehouse.
KTM gets full synthetic (see above), KLR get Rotella.

why should fullsynth run fine in a "worn" engine?
I use 10w50 from the german company Louis, they have there own brand "procycle" which is also soppose to come from a big company. I use 10w50 fullsynth aswell, and im getting close to 80.000km (not much really when you think about it)

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
