Missed your earlier posts.
Could be the CDI box itself - you'll need to take it to a Dealer who has testing facilities.
Could be the ignition pickup - I'm not familiar with XT's but it's probably located inside the engine to one side & sits outside the flywheel. If so, there may be a little trigger on the outside of the flywheel that triggers the spark. There should be a bunch of wires coming out of the engine (on the left?), they will be for the charging & ignition systems. Using a wiring diagram, identify the ignition wires & check for the correct resistance readings using a multimeter. Get the correxct readings from a manual. I had a similar problem on a CDI equipped DR600 years ago, fixed it this way, it needed a new pickup.
