Carb boot repair
I've got a tear in the boot linking the primary carb with the cylinder head and can't afford the 70 plus euros for a new one. I'm thinking of some kind of rubber weld compound to bond the rubber back onto the alu and was looking at a Loctite product that goes to 120 C. Is this likely to be heat resistant enough or is there something better I should look for? Apologies for all the questions - by the time I finish this I will hopefully have learnt enough to be able to answer some.

Try this LOCTITE 330 Depend Structural Adhesive - Henkel

I did a gluejob once and think i used a epoxy, found out its to much job removing carb so bought new ones. I need a bike i can depend on and its no fun when you get stuck with bike far out in the fields...

I'm in Portugal nikroc and the only ones I had found until the links you guys posted (thanks for that) were from MSP (70 euros for one!) or China, for which I will have to pay hefty import taxes to our robber baron customs boys.

As TEMP fix,which may become permanent by the sound of things, why not use engine silicone gasket?... if it keeps oil etc in its gonna keep air out!!

why not post a picture up showing the split?...

Thank you for the kind offer nikroc but I think I'm going to go for the Polish ones which xtrock said he has used. Probably a more sensible and longer lasting route to take than trying to do a fix myself.

Those polish ones are the same as 2 sets I've gotten so far , no issues with them yet . Was the cheapest source I've found also . By getting 2 sets together , shipping didn't add much per set either.

The new boots arrived but they are slightly different to the old ones, which each have a hole in which another air chamber (4PT135810000) fits. Does anyone know what this does and whether I can just leave it off, perhaps with some adjustment to the carb?

Sorry i dont understand what you mean, can you explain what you mean with this this hole in each? maybe picture. If you talk about the pin with hole just plugg it.

Sorry - my query wasn't very clear. This (hopefully) is the diagram from the parts manual. 1 and 2 are the boots with female junctions on top to receive the air chamber which is part 8. The new boots don't have these junctions so I was wondering if the air chamber is really necessary.

Thank you that's good news. I didn't want to have to pay for another pair of boots. What is the purpose of that small air chamber if the bike can be used without it?

Never seen these boots without the connection, the box was ment for some kind of compensation if you ride in high mountains if i remember correct. Well its only few models with this and why do all the others have no problem..

I think boxes like that started out on 2-strokes like yamaha's "boost bottles" and became a marketing-thing even on 4-strokes.

Just block of the small holes in the new intake rubbers.
