17" rims for a XT 600 1989

Hi
I want to put 17 "rims on my old XT from 1989. Is there a place where you can get wheels that fit without rebuilding? I have a front and rear hub lying around that I can use.
What length should I use on the spokes front and rear of a 17 "wheel?
Where can I buy rims in chrome?

No such thing as a place where you can find 17 inch wheels that fit your bike perfectly

one option is to buy a used set from a supermoto like the XT 660 but you will have to make all sorts of adapters/spacers for the axles and brake callipers

Building wheels with your hubs requires some specific know how , for instance the holes in the rim need to be at the right angle to match your hubs and offsets

Also doubt that anybody here will have the spoke lengths to give you for the reasons above

if i was you, would send those hubs to central wheel in uk and ask them to build the wheels for you. https://www.central-wheel.co.uk/

The way I solved it in my supermoto xt600 was to use tzr125 wheels and then make spacers on the lathe, but you have to know what you are doing...

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
