Get two sets of brake pads .. bolt the spare set to the bash plate - room on the right side - place them so if the bash plate bends they won't be the first things to hit the engine cases.
Tyres on the DR ... well if you look at 'overland solutions' rear racks you'll see they are designed to carry spare tyres ..
Weight on to the front on the DR .. use 'tank panniers' - made from two small backpacks - sling them over the fuel tank and tie the straps togeher on top of the tank. You will need to run a bunge cord at the front from the ower corners to stop them flapping at speed.
