India visa advice

Hey guys,

We are in Phnom Penh, Cambodia at the moment and thought we might apply for our India visas here. The embassy has said we can apply in person (we are Kiwis) with the correct paperwork and an interview etc.

We understand the 6 month visa will be valid from the date it is stamped so we want to try and get the full 6.

Is India likely to be concerned with 2 motorcycle travellers entering from Myanmar and exiting into Pakistan? Should we give them the legit itinerary ...or should we be applying in the same way we did for our Pakistan visas, saying we are flying in and out and filling our time with cooking classes and trips to the museum?

Thoughts appreciated

Firstly don't answer any questions they don't ask and say you are exiting into Nepal, the visa does not state an exit port.

That is the biggest thing to do right!

Not interpretation the question into what you think they should ask.

Just answer the question they asked, not expand it, nor explain the answer. If a yes or no will do then just say that.

Thanks guys, we do intend to go through Nepal but we'll require a double entry visa to get into India again. I guess we could say we'll be leaving elsewhere but will try not to stray too far from the truth unless it's a very good idea. I do agree about the "less is more" approach.

My 6-month India visa was issued 'Multiple Entry' by default.

Getting a multiple entry one shouldn't be a problem.

Btw, you must follow the prescriptive application instructions to the letter. For instance, your photo size has to be exactly 50mm x 50mm (2" x 2") square. NB - these are unusual dimensions.

Submit your application with the much more widely accepted photo size of 45mm x 35mm and it will definitely be rejected.
