Your question's pretty broad and you might want to narrow it down if you have any particular queries. There's plenty of general information on riding in Pakistan/India on the HUBB if you have a quick search.

As for Afghanistan - there's a recent post by Spud under Route Planning. He's thinking about riding UK to India via Afghanistan and you might want to look at the replies:

I have already checked that post, it does not seem helpful.

I am a novice to international borders. I am interested in road conditions, approximate time to cross Pakistan, pit-stops, things to watch out for, etc, etc,

Also, anything about the RD350 being roadworthy for such a journey, I am going to buy one in New Delhi.

I will check the rest of this site and post back if any questions.

Tahnks all the same,
SteveF

I am looking for route maps, visa information ( i am based in afghanistan ), permits required for the bike, budget for travel, how much luggage is just right and how to carry it, what modifications to the bike, what spare parts to carry, what tools are most essential etc.

Be grateful if someone could help me out..

I plan to purchase the bike in New Delhi with the help of another biker..

Always wanted to ride a RD350 this is my chance.. oh yeah - how many days will the expedition take since I have to plan my leave..

Thanks in advance,
SteveF

Steve,

Not sure you're going to find an RD350 here, the only manufacturer who makes a 350cc bike in India is Enfield. Other than that there's nothing above 180cc and I've never seen an RD350 on the roads.

Added to that, as a foreigner you can't legally buy a bike here, you have to be a resident, although some dealers will be happy to ignore this and take the cash.

You can't get a carnet for an Indian registered bike which means in theory you can't get into Pakistan. People have got through without carnets, but they had to put their bikes on a train across the country and you want to ride don't you?

What visa information do you want and what's your nationality?

Your budget is really up to you, but work on $25 to $50 a day - it depends how luxuriously you want to live. Same with the time frame - you could probably ride it in a week if you wanted to - how much leave do you have?

As for luggage, spares, tools, etc, there's lots of info on the HUBB about all of these - it's probably best that you have a search through and read previous threads.

Hope that helps,

Harvey

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
