Cool India/Nepal (maybe Bhutan) this August2015!
OK, this is only for those crazy enough and confident enough to book a fantastic ride holiday in a short period of time. This is not a packaged tour ride...move along if you prefer that.

I'm returning to India for the 3rd time, and finally riding Kashmir and the Indian Himalaya. I've got a flexible ticket that could get me into delhi as early as July 27th, but have to depart on the 4th of September to meet my wife in Asia (she's been to India with me, that was enough for her!). So that's 5 solid weeks, enough to ride Kashmir/Khardung La, then head east via the mtns to Nepal and play on the Annapurna Hwy to Muktinath. I'm pretty flexible, just looking for some relaxed riding mates to join in.

Not a fan of Enfields, looking at a Hero Impulse since its more designed for the terrain, but again I'm flexible.

Get in touch fast, time is short and the weather is looking GOOOOOOD

Hi,
I've just spent 10 days riding around Ladakh ( and quite impressed with the toughness of enfields). The Mrs. Arrives tomorrow for a month of trekking and maybe a road trip or two.
Not up for joining your trip, but would be good to have a drink and chat as you pass through Leh.

Hi,
As far as I know, Annapurna is closed due to earthquakedamage. Kali Kandaki blocked due to a very big landslide. Expecting breakthrough after monsoonrains with all kinds of waterdamage

Left Nepal just before the quake but got recent info from friends who live in Pokhara, now back in Holland

Gday James, a meetup sounds good. I am hoping to get into Leh around the 10th of August or earlier, and I'm not up for riding everyday. Ive been up to Kashmir (Srinagar) before with some trekking done, but ages ago. I will PM you with a way to get in touch while in India. Cheers for the reply, and look forward to getting some good tips from your Ladakh ride.

p.s. I know the RE is 'tough' but light and DS design just seems so much more appropriate! I will see what Karol Bagh has to offer in Delhi. I know the Pulsar 220 can also do this kind of trip, but that's like a smaller kind of inadequately designed bike. Hoping Hero Impulses are for rent...otherwise who knows!

Cheers Metita, it will be interesting to see what is rideable and what is not! Hearts and Tears is giving some updates as well. "Whilst nearly every status update, post, or media article is currently focused on the tragedy of the earthquake that struck Nepal two weeks ago, I think it is wise to balance the impression that many people outside of the country are receiving. There is no doubt that parts of Nepal are absolutely devastated. Many lives were lost, villages literally flattened, and the rebuild process will take years in the affected areas. However, there are also many other parts of this great country that escaped without incident. Bardia NP, Pokhara, Jumla, Dolpo, Lower Mustang, Upper Mustang, Palpa, Lumbini, Chitwan...the list goes on and on. In a country where tourism is the largest domestic industry, what Nepal doesn't need is potential visitors to not come due to a misconception about the state of the country. That would just be another devastating blow! If you want to help Nepal get back on its feet I urge you to not only assist organisations who are helping in the affected areas through donations, but actually get on out here and have a fantastic holiday!"

delayed update!!
The trip was magical. Nothing was closed (aside from a Mana Pass in Uttarakhand, which is usually closed and a military road), I got a suprisingly great bike (FZR, efi, 160cc) borrowed from a friend for 200usd and had no issues riding it from Delhi to Nepal, then back and north all over for 9500kms! When I say no issues, I did have a run in with a dumb dog, and also a truck, but both were minor and both not my fault as I was just going straight at slow speed!

Highly recommend this to anyone, Annapurna was amazing (both sides of the trek were great to ride, abeit not cheap for a pass), remote NW nepal was cool too, very rough roads and lots of monsoon river crossings!

I thought it would be a dream satisfied, but instead its a fire stoked! I want to return soon and ride Sikkim/Arunachal Pradesh/Bhutan!

Go for it and feel free to ask me any questions...you don't need a tour group nor an Enfield
