Fuel availability in Nepal

Hi,
We're trying to work out a route through Nepal/India, is anyone in Nepal at the moment?
What's the situation for buying fuel? Availability/cost?
Cheers,
Dean.

Was there in late November, so I can't give up to date information. But as far as I know the blockade has not been lifted, and even back then the situation was pretty bad. With enough time and money you could find petrol, but mostly only 2-3 l at a time. At prices between 2 and 8 dollars a liter, depending on the region. It's really sad to see the nepalis suffering again.

If they still can't get in fuel, you might want to reconsider your route... even if it would be a shame to not go to Nepal - I loved it there!

In Khatmandu and other large towns you have to find station run by army or police tell them you are tourist trying to leave country they will sell you fuel at correct price .on main road in south black market fuel is everywhere sold in plastic bottles at slightly inflated price but hey they have to make a living.

Evereything is ok in kathmandu now

Border is open. Fuel are being easy. Prices are correct.
It will take couple of weeks to get easy distribution for government to distribute the fuel because of high demand but its all ok now

Getting fuel is easy

Hi Dean,

Fuel is easy to get these days. No too much queue to get it than before.
Per litter is around Nrs. 95-99.

Thank you.
Good luck for your trip!!

Cheers!!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
