Driver's li‚ƒen‚“e in China
Is@there anyone who took driver's li‚ƒen‚“e in China?
I heard that it is very easy for foreign travelers to take driver's li‚ƒen‚“e in China.
Is it true?
If so, I will take it ,and buy motor bike in China, and drive it around the country.

I did it at the police headquarters in Shanghai, two years ago. It is 25 questions, as I remember, mine was in English, and on a computer screen. They took my picture, made up a real license and I was out of there. I did need the Chinese plate for the bike too.

G'Day,
to obtain a legal Chinese driving license (not the temporary one sometimes issued while renting a car!) you need a valid Chinese Foreigners Resident Permit (we call them green book).
some tour operators have had temporary d-license arranged for there customers.
best regards,
Butch

hello,
a frenchman has been driving recently in china for a few months on a bike that he bought in china (is he still there now ?) : i don t know more about the administrative part of his trip (driving license, numberplate, license, ownership ...). i read an article about him in a french magazine in feb or march 2005 and met his brother who works at the Federation Francaise de Motocyclisme. he has been travelling for 20 years around the world, almost non stop.
his name : fred. you can email him directly at : fredtranduc at yahoo dot com
hope it helps

I have an original, unique and genuine Chinese driving licence. At least almost...
While living in Beijing I got a car included in the rental fee of my flat. Well, could not use it without a licence. As the guangxi or social connection network is the solution for anything, I asked my land lord to help.
Some days later he asked for my photo. And some days from that he came back with a licence for driving.
His friend worked for a licence bureau and had entered a fake Chinese name into system with my photo attached to it. Voila, feat done.
It worked fine during my stay, and allowed me to ride my car and side-car around the place.
Therefore, it is possible if you have correct connections...

G'Day,
must have been a real "cheap fake" license (Canon / Xerox Color Copy) since to my very limited knowledge the pictures in PRC driving license are taken at the Vehicle Registration Bureau with the passport / ID card number underneath the actual digital picture and the whole d-license is interlinkend with resident permit / passport...?!
good on you to "survive" and drive with fake documents without any accident or other incidents.
Best Regards, Seeya in the pub or on the road....
