Crossing Pakistan to Iran - route and NOC?

Hi All.

I just got to Islamabad and am planning to head north to the KKH in a couple of days, then down to Quetta then cross into Iran. Does anyone know if I need to organise a NOC before hand while I'm in Islamabad for the balochistan section. And also which route is allowed?

Thanks

Welcome to Pakistan.

I dont think you need a NOC for KKH but rules keep changing according to the conditions.

MAP (Motorcyclists Assoc of Pak) has chapters accross the country and you should be fine if you stay in touch with them.

Once in Quetta all formalities would be taken care of by the Bloomstar Hotel.
Have a great trip.
Cheers

NOC for North

If you are a tourist, you don't need an NOC for traveling up North. Though there a number of checkpoints which document your travel up and down the KKH. The route through Naran and Babusar is closed for now due to snow, but the KKH is open. The patch between Dasu and Raikot is bad, beyo=nd RAikot is a dream! Drop in for a cup of tea when in Hunza!

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
