Crossing Mongolia-China-Pakistan september 2017

Hi everybody,

We are a couple and planning to leave The Netherlands at april 1 2017 to travel on our two motorbikes to Asia. Our trip will take a year.

Our original idea was to cross China like this: Mongolia-China-Laos but because of the ever changing regulations In Thailand, we are thinking to avoid Thailand.
The new idea is entering China from Mongolia to Pakistan via the Karakoram Highway. If we decide to travel through China in September and entering Pakistan in the beginning of October 2017, is this possible or is it already winter that time of the year?
Is there anyone who wants to travel this part of the world next year and want share a guide with us?

Hope to hear from you!

Greets Dave & Karin

Pak China border usually closes in December but October can also be very cold at certain parts of KKH.

Welcome to Pakistan but do travel with some good warm clothes.

Hi Dave and Karin,

We are hoping to do this trip, albeit from Kyrgystan - China - Pakistan at a similar time. Would be interested in sharing a guide if we could somehow coordinate it. We will be in a Landcruiser so would have space in the vehicle for the guide...

Let me know what you think.

Alex

Well it just occured to me to check how close Mongolia and Kyrgystan are - not very, it would seem!

Good luck organising the trip!

Hi Kaatje,

I spent time on the KKH in October last year (2016) and yeah, the pass may be cold, but you drop 2000m in the first hour so the rest of the trip is not too cold. Off course it depends a bit on the weather, but I found it perfectly feasible in October.
